DID YOU KNOW:

  • KDB Glide was prototyped with a glass tip. There was marginal success due to the glass tip being fragile.
  • KDB Glide originally was developed with a polymer tip. There was marginal success due to the polymer tip being fragile.
  • Early prototypes had a green polymer tip. Surgeon feedback led to the tip being tinted blue to avoid color blind user issues.
  • Early prototypes started with a pump for dispensing OVD. This is how Streamline came about.

SURGEON / PATIENT TESTIMONIALS:

The great thing about KDB GLIDE® is that it literally glides through the canal of Schlemm because of its tapered sides and rounded heel, while excising a clean strip of trabecular meshwork. It has a short learning curve and is widely covered by insurance plans.

Blake WilliamsonWilliamson Eye Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Intraoperatively, I appreciate the intuitive use of the KDB GLIDE®. Its dual blades allow me to make small, controlled movements in either direction of the trabecular meshwork to successfully excise a clean strip every time.

Additionally, with no implant, there is no risk of dislodgement or concern about placement given the submicron variances in a targeted approach.

Eric RosenbergSight MD, Babylon New York

The KDB GLIDE® is perfectly designed to unroof the posterior wall of the trabecular meshwork with minimal trauma to the canal of Schlemm. A single forehand pass with the KDB GLIDE® engaging the trabecular meshwork, maintaining mild anterior traction, and continuing for 3 - 4 clock hours results in a clean excisional goniotomy. The KDB GLIDE® is always my first choice for ab interno goniotomy.
